We can enjoy the beautiful scenery of the Bieszczady Mountains and many surviving material marks of the past: country houses, churches (both Roman-Catholic and Eastern-rite), castles and palaces. Out of many offers addressed to tourists we can find exciting theme trails that feature monuments of historic, cultural and natural heritage.
Single- and two-storey bunkers had cellars and underground fuel stores. Bigger facilities were provided with electric generators and most had partly hermetic rooms.
THE PRZEMYŚL FORTRESSEurope’s largest fortress after Antwerpen and Verdun, and the easternmost one at the same time, the Przemyśl fortress was designed to protect Budapest and Vienna from an expected Russian attack during the First World War. Construction work started during the Crimean War. At that time Przemyśl received a circleof earthen walls with a length of 15 km.
The international route “the Green Bicycle” (“Zielony Rower”), full of marked routes leading through the most beautiful corners of the Bieszczady Mountains, is almost 1000 kilometers long. The exquisite bicycle routes have been marked in the areas of The Przemyskie Foothills, Dynowskie Foothills and in Beskid Niski.
