Journey into culture and tradition

The Ethnocentre of the Krosno Region offers a unique journey into the traditions and culture. It is a place where visitors can immerse themselves in local traditions, customs, and ceremonies while touring a unique multimedia exhibition with a guide. An interactive walk through this modern space reveals exceptional multimedia arrangements transporting visitors back in time. Each step on this path unveils a new story, tale, and mystery.

An educational experience for the whole family

Visiting the Ethnocentre is not just about learning but primarily about experience. Fairy tales, legends, and tales are the primary medium of communication tailored to the needs of each group. The active form of activities considers didactic principles and exposure methods, meaning that the message is always combined with experience and sensation, making the content more engaging and memorable.

The tour starts in the Railway Waiting Room, where visitors learn about the origins of railways in Krosno. Then, they move on to the tour path, during which they visit themed rooms: the Station Forecourt with a presentation about everyday life in an old village, the Meadow View room, and the Wedding Chamber displaying old photographs and wedding tokens of Krosno residents and beyond. The last is the Guest Chamber, which has been arranged like the interior of a cottage with the basic equipment of a moderately wealthy peasant family.

Multimedia attractions await!

The tour concludes in the atmospheric basement, where multimedia exhibits captivate one's attention, available for every visitor to use individually. There are specially prepared stations with Kinect devices that offer the chance to test one's skills in preparing virtual bread, from sowing the grain to kneading the dough.

The Ethnocentre of the Krosno Region is where history comes alive, and traditions become part of the visitors' experience.

What to see near Krosno?

During your stay in Krosno, it is worth visiting other attractions that will undoubtedly please both history and art enthusiasts.

The Crafts Museum – a real treasure for craft enthusiasts. The institution is housed in an Art Nouveau building, popularly known as the "house under the clock", built at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. From 1901-1938, the site of the First National Tower Clock Factory in Krosno was founded by a watchmaker from the city.

The Parish Tower – next to the parish church stands a 38-meter-high tower; its spire dominates Krosno's old town. The building and its bells were endowed in the 17th century by Robert Portius – a Scot who made his fortune in the Hungarian wine trade. During summer, temporary exhibitions are presented inside the tower's spire.

The Glass Heritage Centre - a modern, interactive institution showcasing the achievements of glass craftsmanship. The centre offers glassblowing demonstrations, tours, and conference room rentals. Exhibitions display unique glass sculptures and the glass-making process.
